Scam Texts

Scammers often send innocuous text messages like “Are we on for lunch?,” “Hello” or “How have you been?” to bait their victims into a conversation.

The interaction may seem innocent in the beginning as they attempt to build trust through friendly conversation, but it will ultimately lead to an attempt to extract money or personal information from the victim.

If you receive a text message from an unknown number, even if you recognize the area code, do not respond to it.
