Walt Bier has two holes-in-one during his recent birthday week

Ninety-year-old Walt Bier of the LW Men’s Golf Club had two holes-in-one during his recent birthday week to amass 41 total holes-in-one over the years. The club congratulates him.

A warm sun and clear sky greeted 52 golfers on March 11 as they teed off at the 1,680-yard par 54 Turtle Lake Golf Club.

Twenty of the 52 men scored net at or under par. There were 63 birdies and six circle holes. Closest to the pin on hole No. 8 was Bob Johnston and on No. 17 it was Tom Kim. Average net score for the round was 56, just two strokes over par.

Low net score for the round was Jon Russell and Bud Young at 9 under 45, followed by Andrew Kim at 6 under 48, and Paul Shellenberger at 5 under 49.

A flight winners (handicaps of 0-6): Andrew Kim, first place; Mike Mayfield, second; John Kolthoff, third; Thomas Kim, fourth; Fujio Norihiro, Jae Choi and Trai Nguyen, fifth; Gene Archambault and Bob Johnston, sixth; Dong On Kim, seventh.

B flight winners (handicaps of 7-12): Bud Young, first place; Young Lee, second; Tom Ebert and Rod Osgood, third; Joon Sup Yoon, fourth; Dave LaCascia, Richard Yokomi, Bruce Bowles and Bob Barnum, fifth.

C flight winners (handicaps of 13-18): Russell, first place; Shellenberger, second; Darry Holten, third; James Choi, fourth; Todd Chidester, fifth; Art Salazar, sixth; John Burns, Dennis Jensen and Mark Tal, seventh.

The next men’s tournament will be on March 25. Those scheduled or who plan to play in any tournament and cannot should contact Scott Tuchfarber at 909-684-0426, or Dave LaCascia at 801-674-5975 as soon as possible.

Players need a handicap and must be a club member to participate in tournament payouts. Membership Chairman Walter Kim (562-999-2565) will collect dues at all tournaments. If dues are not paid by April 1, people can play but will not be able to participate in any payouts.
