Those who would like to play a fun and friendly game of Texas Hold ‘Em for a $5 buy-in should make plans to join the Tournament Poker Club on Saturday, March 7, at 10 a.m. in Clubhouse 6. Cards are in the air at 10:30. There is no late seating.

Sixty-four players made for exciting play and a great game on Feb. 21. High hand winners were Jeff Rolnick (6-6-6-6-10), Glenn Evanson (A-A-A-Q-Q) and a mystery player whose name didn’t get recorded. Young Cho won a prize for playing and winning with the promo hand of 2-10.

As the winners of their original table, the final table players were: Richard Jones, first place; Bob Konier, second; Roy Mittlestadt, third; Ray Lim, fourth; Young Cho, fifth; Dennis Kotecki, sixth; Edwin Lucero, seventh; and Guta Basner, eighth. Play continued at the final table until Jones and Konier were heads up. In the final hand of the match, Jones was holding K-J diamonds and Konier had ace of spades and jack of clubs. The flop came king of hearts, 2 of clubs, king of clubs. Jones went all in after the flop with three kings, and was called by Konier with 3 clubs. The turn was a 2 of diamonds. Jones went all in with a full house; and Konier called with ace high. The river was an ace, which gave Konier two pair, but Jones full house won the hand and the tournament.

Jones has lived in Leisure World and been a member of the poker club for four years. This was his third final table win. Jones is an active member of the club, who helps whenever needed. He is also a regular at several other poker games here in Leisure World.
