Concerned Shareholders

The Concerned Shareholders Club hosted GRF Executive Director David Norvell at its meeting on Feb. 26. Norvell spoke candidly about the challenges he faces, including physical infrastructure issues, contract processes and navigating concerns between staff and residents. He emphasized that his primary focus is supporting the residents and addressing the needs of the community, with particular attention to improving staff training.

During the questionand- answer portion of the meeting, topics included:

•Whether the GRF and all Mutuals could benefit from consolidating contracts for trash, insurance, and television services, rather than the GRF and individual Mutuals obtaining separate agreements.

• The perceived duplication of duties among GRF staff.

• Realignment of security gates to prevent delays for residents entering the community.

• The possibility of hiring Leisure World residents for part-time positions as security guards and library staff. Club president Valerie Baldwin concluded the meeting by requesting volunteers to walk the Mutuals for flyer distribution and to assist with other efforts aimed at electing qualified GRF directors from the even-numbered Mutuals.
