LW Woman’s Club: March 3

The Woman’s Club of Leisure World will meet on Tuesday, March 3, in Clubhouse 2. Doors open 12:30 p.m., and the meeting begins at 1. New members are welcome. Annual dues are $25.

Each month, members experience the joy of giving to local organizations that provide aid in local communities. In March, the club will recognize the Leisure World Historical Society, which was founded in 1993 by two history professors, Kenneth and Claire Walker. The Walkers moved into Leisure World when Kenneth inherited his parent’s unit, which they purchased when Leisure World opened in 1962. The Historical Society became a California 501(c)3 educational nonprofit in 1995. Its mission is to preserve the history of Leisure World and to educate residents, and interested outsiders, about that history.

Following the business meeting, accomplished singer Jennifer Kersey will perform a variety of genres, including Broadway and songs from the ‘50s-‘70s. For more information, contact Lynn Baidack at 562-296-5342.
