SENIORS FOR PEACE

Seniors for Peace will meet on Thursday, March 5, at 2 p.m., in Clubhouse 4. Note the location has changed to accommodate a larger attendance. This month’s guest speaker is award-winning author and Los Angeles Times columnist Gustavo Arellano, who will present his own point of view on immigration.

Arellano is author of “Orange County: A Personal History” and “Taco USA: How Mexican Food Conquered America,” a columnist for the Los Angeles Times, and has been an essayist and reporter for various publications and a frequent commentator on radio and television. He was formerly an editor of OC Weekly, an alternative newspaper in Orange County and penned the award-winning “¡Ask a Mexican!,” a nationallysyndicated column in which he answered any and all questions about America’s largest minority. Arellano is the recipient of awards ranging from the Los Angeles Press Club President’s Award to an Impacto Award from the National Hispanic Media Coalition and was recognized by the California Latino Legislative Caucus with a 2008 Spirit Award for his “exceptional vision, creativity, and work ethic.” He was part of the Los Angeles Times team that won the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News and was a 2025 finalist for Commentary. Arellano is a lifelong resident of Orange County and is the proud son of two Mexican immigrants, one of whom came to this country in the trunk of a Chevy.

The club expects a large turnout for this meeting, so come early for the best seats and enjoy some refreshments.

All are welcome to attend. Call Pat Kruger at 562-357-4040 for more information.
