Arirang Club
The LW Arirang Club meets on Fridays upstairs in Clubhouse 6 from 1-4 p.m. The club was founded this year to provide LW residents an opportunity to experience arirang while learning to play the janggu instrument. Nearly 20 members have joined.
Playing the janggu and drum helps participants improve muscle coordination, memory and cognitive function. It promotes movement, coordination, concentration and emotional expression.
Participants express different emotions through playing soft, slow, fast, strong etc. Playing includes standing, sitting, marching, upper body extension, and arm swinging in unison with leader. Mutual 15 resident Young Park leads the group with over 30 years of teaching experience. To join, contact Park at 909-580-0590.
