American Latino Club

The LW American Latino Club will meet on Thursday, March 12, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. All Leisure World friends and neighbors are invited to join the meeting to celebrate the country of Venezuela. Each month, the club celebrates different Latin American countries through videos showcasing the different customs, cultures, foods and people.

In addition to the presentation on Venezuela, there will be a discussion and demo on Artificial Intelligence (AI) led by Miryam Fernandez.

The American Latino Club is all-inclusive, welcoming everyone from different backgrounds and traditions (Spanish is not a requirement). Annual membership fee is $10 per person. Nonmembers can come as guests (limit three times per year, after which membership is encouraged).

Lunch will be from Nova Bakery, a Venezuelan restaurant in Long Beach. The two meal choices are the beef or chicken Pabellon Plate. Both choices include black beans, white rice and fried sweet plantains.

The cost for lunch is $22 for members and $25 for guests. People should submit payment (and meal choice) to Treasurer Rachel Fullum by dropping them off in her mailbox at 1371 Oakmont Road, 150-L, Seal Beach, CA 90740. If RSVPing by US mail, allow 9-12 days for delivery. Payment by check made payable to the American Latino Club, no later than 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 8.

Members and guests who bring their own lunch will need to pay $5, which includes beverages. People should notify Fullum at 310-869-7730 if they are bringing their own lunch.
