Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. Women who want support on their weight-loss journey and to meet like-minded people are welcome to stop by no later than 8:45 to weigh in and complete the registration paperwork.

On Jan. 30, members learned that the club lost an impressive 20.5 pounds the week prior. There was a tie for the biggest loser between Joy Nasser and Kathy Moran, who lost three pounds each. Nasser said she has been exercising more, eating more salads, and continues to control her portion sizes even when she goes to someone’s house.

Bev Bender stepped in as first vice president to facilitate the club’s share day. With her incredibly perky personality, Bender encouraged everyone to think of only positive thoughts and insights to share. The members then went around the table to share about what helps them to overcome obstacles, what they did to help others.

The weekly food for thought was: “It’s never too late to teach new tricks.”
