The Gospel lesson is from Matthew 17:1-9. Frequently, encounters with the divine occur on mountain tops. Jesus is presented in his divinity to a select few of his followers, who want to stay on the mountain to remain in the presence of the divine. But, Jesus calls them down off the mountain to continue their journey. Believers are all called to continue on their journey especially after encountering the divine: going from Sunday services to going out into communities to share with others love and faith, returning to be filled again the next Sunday.
