LW Arirang Club
The LW Arirang Club meets Fridays from 1-4 p.m., upstairs in Clubhouse 6. Members learn to play the janggu, the most widely used drum in traditional Korean music.
Playing the janggu helps improve muscle coordination, memory and cognitive function. It promotes movement, coordination, concentration and emotional expression.
People express different emotions through playing soft, slow, fast or strong. While playing, people may stand, sit, march, extend their upper bodies and swing their arms in unison with the leader. Club leader Young Park has 30 years of experience teaching.
For more information or to join the club, contact Young Park at 909-580-0590.
Club instructor Young Park (r) performs the janggu at a Japanese American cultural event.
