I am writing to urgently address the ongoing failure of the Leisure World pedestrian gate access system. Despite this issue being brought to the GRF Board’s attention last spring, and a comprehensive plan presented by GRF IT Director Marcelo Mario, no action has been taken.

Currently, the card readers are failing, allowing anyone to gain entry using a simple credit card.

This is a severe security risk for all shareholders. Furthermore, as a disabled shareholder who uses an electric scooter, the lack of reliable, automatic gate access is a significant safety hazard.

When the gates fail, I am forced to reverse my scooter into oncoming traffic to exit, which is incredibly dangerous.

It is frustrating to see the board delay this essential project while recently approving $80,000 for a non-essential ADA bathroom in Clubhouse 4.

Our assessment fees should prioritize critical infrastructure and safety over unnecessary upgrades.

I am requesting that the board immediately prioritize the gate access project. We need a high-quality, professional solution as originally proposed by our IT Director, rather than further delays.

A Chevy plan will not best serve our community.

The safety, security and accessibility of our community must be addressed without further excuse.
