Mosaic artist will demonstrate techniques on Feb. 10 in CH 4
LW ART LEAGUE
Long Beach mosaic artist Dawn Mendelson will be the Art League’s featured guest demonstrator on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 6 p.m. in Clubhouse 4. Mendelson has been creating mosaics and building communities through art for two decades.
After years of commissioned work, Mendelson began teaching within a nonprofit mosaic arts program and social enterprise. By leading workshops, she discovered a passion for helping people find their creative voice by serving as instructor, program director and managing director, leading both new and experienced artists in creating large-scale public art.
Mendelson developed ArtWorksLBC, an arts wellness program partnering with Long Beach’s Rose Park Neighborhood Association. As president of Contemporary Mosaic Art 2 (CMA2), Mendelson is committed to arts advocacy, serving on several nonprofit boards and committees, and educating on a national level.
This unique art enrichment program for Leisure World residents is made possible through a grant provided by the Golden Age Foundation (GAF). GAF and the Art League share a commitment to enriching the lives of local seniors through exposure and training in the visual arts, delivered each month through demonstrations and workshops provided by prestigious Southern California artists.
Attendees are welcome to bring guests, and league members are encouraged to bring artwork for display by 5:30 p.m.
Everyone will have the opportunity to select the most popular art piece on display and enter to win a raffle for artwork or publications provided by the guest presenter.
