My New Year’s Resolution I’ve rattled my brain Searched my soul Consulted the stars All in vain The suggestions I received Were more than a few But none seemed to do Eat more fiber Give up red meat Drink red wine But not before nine Practice Pilates Swim daily Reduce my spending Write my book an ending All noble ideas But none sounded right Then an “ah-ha” moment And the choice was bright To live in the present Is my solution To my New Year’s resolution Let go of the past No more regrets Banish worry and fear The future’s not here Vow to live Each day, hour, minute Finding the joy And beauty within it.
