American Latino Club

The LW American Latino Club will meet on Thursday, Feb. 12, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, from 11:30 a.m-3 p.m. All residents are welcome to join the club at this month’s gathering as it celebrates the country of Nicaragua. .

The American Latino Club is all-inclusive, welcoming everyone from different backgrounds and traditions (speaking Spanish is not a requirement). The annual membership fee is $10 per person. Non-members are welcome as guests (limit three times per year, after which membership is encouraged).

The club will provide lunch from California Pizza Kitchen. Meal choices include a combination of original chicken chopped salad, with a choice of bolognese fusilli (meat sauce with Cremini mushrooms, sprinkled with scallions) or chicken tequila fettuccini (creamy jalapeño lime sauce with spinach fettuccine, red onions, bell peppers and fresh cilantro), and bread with an assorted cookie platter. The lunch is $22 for members and $25 for guests.

People must submit payment and meal choice to club Treasurer Rachel Fullum no later than Sunday, Feb. 8, at 3 p.m., by dropping it off in her mailbox at: 1371 Oakmont Road, 150-L, Seal Beach, CA 90740. Make sure to allow for enough time if sending payment by U.S. mail. Checks should be made payable to the American Latino Club. Cost for members and guests who bring their own lunch is $5 (includes beverages). Members should notify Fullum of lunch choice or if they are bringing their own lunch by calling 310-869-7730.

The club will host a Valentine’s Day hat contest. Prizes will be given out for “most Valentine-y” and most humorous hats. The club will also hold Board elections for the position of secretary (computer knowledge required).

Contact Board President Miryam Fernandez at 562-884-7460 prior to the February meeting for consideration. Elections will be held at the Feb. 12 meeting.
