Senior Pastor Yong Jang-Young delivered a sermon titled “God’s House, the Church,” on Jan. 25 at LW Korean Community Church (LWKCC) beginning with the scripture reading from 1 Timothy 3:15,“This is the house of the living God, the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.”

Pastor Young emphasized that the church is not simply a place or building where people gather but a holy community where the living God is present and reigns. Therefore, he stressed that as members of God’s house, believers must live in reverence of God and conduct themselves appropriately in their words, actions and lives.

Especially at this time, as the two churches, LWKCC and Leisure World Community Church, collaborate as sister churches and begin 2026 together, Pastor Young emphasized the importance of deeply reflecting on the meaning of this encounter and unity given by God. He stressed that this is not a matter of human will but an opportunity given through God’s providence in building up the church, and therefore, they should not view each other as competitors, but embrace each other as one family in the Lord.

Pastor Young pointed out the crucial role of existing members. He urged them not to treat the collaborating church as guests or maintain distance but to welcome and care for them with genuine warmth as brothers and sisters. He encouraged them to avoid comparison, judgment or clinging to past methods but to humbly respect each other’s traditions and ministries. Pastor Young also emphasized that the church can achieve unity when it shows mature faith by being the first to greet, the first to reach out, and practice love in words and actions.

He emphasized that this year should be designated as a “year of rebuilding through the word,” LWKCC

and that all members should strive to deepen their faith through diligent Bible study. People should not only know God’s word, but also put into practice the teachings they learn and meditate on it, thereby deepening the roots of their faith and building an unshakable foundation of belief. This would lead to the growth of not only individual faith but also the church community’s faith.

Within the church, which was established by Jesus Christ, who is full of grace and truth, believers are called to be a community that fulfills God’s will, and to bear witness to Jesus’ work of salvation. The church exists in the world but should not resemble the world. It should be a vibrant, active place that proclaims God’s gospel in the community with the help of the Holy Spirit.

By receiving the Holy Spirit, believers can carry out the church’s ministry with joy. When the fullness of the Holy Spirit descends upon the church, it will become a vibrant and life-giving church that offers complete glory to God.

LWKCC holds a Sunday worship at the sanctuary every Sunday at 11:30 to “plant Gods will in the ground,” and holds an early morning prayer service at the sanctuary led by the senior pastor at 6 a.m. from Tuesday to Saturday. The church is next to St. Andrews Gate at 14000 Church Place.
