SENIORS FOR PEACE

Seniors for Peace will meet on Thursday, Feb. 5, at 2 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Dr. Jeremy Cohen, president of the Orange County chapter of Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, will speak about the dangers of Christian nationalism.

Christian nationalism is not the same as Christianity but rather a political ideology which seeks to merge Christian and American identities, distorting both the Christian faith and America’s constitutional democracy. It represents a threat to the constitutional guarantee of separation of church and state, which allows all people freedom of choice in the matter of religion.

Cohen, a retired professor of developmental and social psychology specializing in special needs education, taught at the University of California Irvine and the Orange County California Department of Education for 32 years.

The meeting will start at 2 p.m., but attendees can come as early as 1:45 to socialize and enjoy some refreshments. All are welcome to attend. Call Pat Kruger at 562-357-4040 for any questions or further information.
