First Christian Church
First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the Holy Bible, verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “That we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.
Pastor’s Message
The message for this week is from Romans 12:1-2. The apostle Paul, in Romans 11, has explained that the blindness of Israel was temporary and that in God’s timing, the nation and people of Israel will be fully restored.
In Romans 12:1-2, the apostle Paul directs his message to the church in Rome and his message now is a call to all readers to be a living sacrifice unto God. A call for people to live the Christian life.
The first verse of Romans 12 Paul states, “Therefore, I urge you brethren, by the mercies of God to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, well pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.”
In chapter Romans 8:34 Paul wrote, “Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.”
With that knowledge, Paul now turns to how the redeemed sinner should apply that knowledge to his life. Specifically, to present the entire body, mind, heart and spirit as a holy sacrifi ce to living a life of spiritual service of worship to him. It is only because believers have been made alive in Christ that they are able to do this or even want it.
