Assembly of God

Some people are naturally optimistic about everything. They irritate those who consider themselves realists, as opposed to pessimists. Even if one is not a Pollyanna type, the truth is that some ray of light can be found in the most bitter circumstance. James 1:1-12 presents this principle, that strength and endurance come after resistance and trial, bringing hope to those going through difficulties. Knowing there is something to be gained by withstanding tough times makes the journey bearable. Pastor Chuck Franco will preach a sermon titled “Endurance: The Blessings of Stress” on Sunday, Feb. 1.

Bible study is on the fifth session of the “Book of James,” in chapters 2:14-26. James explains the relationship between faith and works. One without the other is meaningless. Francis Chan’s video teaching supplies the basis for moderated discussion and student interaction, producing a deeper understanding of scripture and how to apply it to the believer’s life.
