Ode to the Sea

As I walked beside you, I left my soul’s print in the cold, wet sand — a promise to myself to return back again and listen to the song you sing to the wind, so soothing to my fears you comfort the years of pain within. As I walked beside you, I left the worry and woe of the day, as if to say, pray, please wash them away. As I walked beside you, I left my heart there too because I knew the ocean blue would take each heartbreak, lave them with a wave and return them to me unscathed. As I walked beside you, I left my tears close to your sea’s edge, so as to pledge my spirit will rise like the sun from a broken one to match the beauty of the sunset on your horizon.
