Clubhouses offer NYE fun from 6 p.m.-12:30 a.m.

NEW YEAR'S EVE DANCES

Leisure World clubhouses offer two opportunities to ring in the New Year on Wednesday, Dec. 31: Clubhouse 4 from 6-9 p.m.: The Velvetones Ballroom Dance Orchestra is Leisure World’s own professional big band, playing big band swing and jazz standards. This year, by popular demand they will be back on New Year’s Eve in Clubhouse 4. The doors open at 5:30 and the band will play from 6-9 p.m.

Clubhouse 2 from 9 p.m.-midnight:

If you’re looking for a different vibe, Abilene will hold its annual New Year’s Eve party, also on Wednesday, Dec. 31, in Clubhouse 2 at 9 p.m. Abilene is Leisure World’s No. 1 country rock band going strong for 20-plus years. Abilene highlights Andre Dusomme on guitar and vocals, Jim Greer on drums, Vickie Van Ert on vocals, Greg Johnson on keyboards and vocals, and Bob McAlister on bass and vocals. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and the music goes till midnight.

A special event bus will provide transportation to and from the dances from 5:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Request a ride by calling 562-472-1367.

GRF dance rules and guidelines:

• No table saving. People can bring their own snacks.

• No announcements are permitted from the stage, except by the bands.

• Clubhouse lighting and audio-visual equipment can only be adjusted by the custodian according to the instructions they have been given.

• Be sure to sign in, either as a resident or guest, in the proper spot.
