Christmas party is on Dec. 20

LW MEN'S GOLF CLUB

It is time for members and those who want to join the LW Men’s Golf Club to pay dues of $15 for the upcoming 2026 season. Players must be a club member and have a handicap to participate in tournament payouts.

The club’s Christmas party is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Dec. 20 in Clubhouse 2. Call President Ron Steele at 559-905-3296 for last minute tickets. Dave LaCascia will be at all tournaments and at the club’s next general meeting on Jan. 7 for collection of dues.

There were 50 players at the Dec. 10 tournament at the Turtle Lake Golf Course. Fourteen of the players scored net at or under par. There were 45 birdies with eight circle holes. Closest to the pin on hole No. 8 was Jae Choi and on No. 17 it was Gene Archambault.

Low net score for the round was Steve Walker at 4 under 50, followed by Orlando Sanchez, Gene Archambault, Richard Yokomi and Trai Nguyen at 3 under 51. Low gross score of the round was John Kolthoff at 2 under 52. Average net score for the round was 57.5 or two and a half strokes over par.

A flight winners (handicaps of 0-5): Archambault, 3 under, first place; Kolthoff, 2 under, second; Mike Mayfield, 1 under, third; Pat Paternoster and Bob Johnston, fourth; Dave LaCascia and Jae Choi, fifth.

B flight winners (handicaps of 6-11): Steve Walker, 4 under, first place; Yokomi and Nguyen, 3 under, second; Andrew Kim, 2 under, third; Walter Kim and Young Lee, 1 under, fourth; Ron Jackson, even par, fifth; Bruce Bowles, sixth; Fujio Norihiro and Kevin Lindstedt, seventh.

C flight winners (handicaps of 12-18): Sanchez, 3 under, first place; Darry Holten, 1 under, second; Byron Schweitzer, third; Steve Kang, fourth; Reuban Garcia and Rod Osgood, fifth; James Choi, sixth; Lee Broadbent, seventh.

The next men’s tournament is on Dec. 24. The club offers kudos to players for continuing to take responsibility for fixing divots and ball marks on fairways, tees, and greens. Special thanks to efficient starter Sophia Kim, who went the extra mile and fixed ball marks on every green before the start of the tournament.
