Art League Holiday Festival a Success
The Art in Bloom Holiday Festival was a resounding success, with hundreds of art lovers and first-time visitors exploring a broad selection of drawings, paintings, printmaking, jewelry, ceramics, basketry, quilts, sculpture, lapidary and more on Dec. 9. The Holiday Festival, a sequel to this summer’s widely popular Art in Bloom Exhibition, included live music from Leisure World’s own country rock band, Abilene, and wine and food service provided by Gasper Monteer Realty Group.
As people entered the south doors of Clubhouse 4, they were greeted by a Christmas tree featuring red and white themed ribbons and ornaments created by the Lapidary and Jewelry Club. Throughout the hall, artists stood beside tables, easels and panels displaying their artwork. People made silent auction bids, and purchased raffle tickets to win art pieces and art-themed gifts provided by artists and local vendors.
“We couldn’t be happier that so many came out to enjoy creations from members of the community’s art and craft clubs,” League President Ramayana “RB” Baba said. “It really says a lot about how our residents support and enjoy the arts.”
Proceeds from the event will help support the league’s work in teaching and encouraging artistic expression in Leisure World.
Now is the time for artists to start building their portfolios for next year. The positive response to both shows drives the league to expand the creation and exhibition of visual arts in the Leisure World.
