Review rules and regulations for golf carts Dec. 12

Seal Beach Police traffic investigator James Dowdell will speak to the Sunshine Club on Friday, Dec. 12, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, at 10 a.m. He will go over rules, regulations and laws surrounding golf carts in Leisure World and Seal Beach. He will also set aside time to answer residents’ questions.

The meeting will cover golf cart laws, including:

• Misconceptions about driving golf carts in and outside of the community.

• Frequent violations observed by police near Leisure World.

• Criteria that golf carts must meet to be able to drive on public roadways.

• The difference between golf carts and Low Speed Vehicles (LSVs).

• The types of vehicles that require a valid driver’s license.

• Traffic laws and guidelines that apply to bicyclists.

All residents are welcome to join the meeting. The Sunshine Club requires no membership fees, but donations are welcome. Refreshment will be served.

People are asked to arrive on time, those who are late should quietly come in through the back door so as not to disturb the presentation.
