Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore
On Sunday, Dec. 7, the congregations of Redeemer Lutheran Church and St. Theodore of Canterbury Episcopal Church will celebrate the second Sunday of Advent. Rev Murray Finck will preside over the holy Communion service gathering at 13564 St. Andrews Drive at 10:30 a.m. Carol Costello will be this month’s reader, and Rhoda Finck will be the prayer leader. People can stay after service for fellowship in the Fellowship Hall for coffee, tea, cookies and snacks.
The congregations will host a Christmas Eve holy Communion service on Wednesday, Dec. 24, at 10:30 a.m.
Advent gatherings will be held on Dec. 3, 10 and 17 at 3 p.m. for an Advent program, followed by a meal together at 4 p.m.
The Gospel lesson for this week is from Matthew 3:1-12. John the Baptist calls all people to repent while foreshadowing Jesus coming. John also calls for the people of God to repent their sins and prepare for Jesus to return.
This call continues throughout history to this current own time and the future. Believers are always called to prepare for the second coming of Jesus and to continue to repent sins.
