Fun With Fashion Club
The Fun With Fashion Club will meet Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 2.
At the club’s Nov. 10 “Pizazz What You Have” event, spontaneous applause greeted many of the “pizazzed” outfits created by fashion stylist Theresa Metzler.
First, she glamorized a denim outfit on Brenda Thomason, delighting everyone with a creatively used scarf/halter effect, that, without the underblouse, would be very sexy. Second she took a plain black dress up several notches on Camille Dull, with a combination of jewelry, a little jacket and a scarf, creating several looks with the same clothing. Then Metzler showed the group a few ways to tone down the glitter of the strapless sequined dress she was wearing. She did it with a combination of a sheer top, a men’s tuxedo jacket (borrowed from her son) and a scarf. Her eye-catching finale was adding a velvet beret, red leather gloves and large sunglasses—a sassy New York look.
People were invited to work with the clothing they brought, and their table-mates made “pizazzing” suggestions. All engaged in the fun and came away with new ideas for the holidays, agreeing that “when you look good, you feel good.”
One person pointed out that members of the group “all have different style preferences.” The group agreed. That fact, Metzler indicated, was the reason that she does individual styling with the clothing in that particular person’s closet, saying: “You bought those things because you liked them, so your style is all right there. I work with you to bring out your sense of glamor, by putting together your pieces in creative ways.”
The club took suggestions for future events, which ranged from a shopping field-trip to the Los Angeles Fashion District to a makeup party which would cover natural and glamorous looks.
