AMERICAN LEGION POST 327

On Nov. 12, Veterans Day, the American Legion Post sponsored a beautiful program to honor prisoners of war and missing in action (POW/MIA) veterans as well as to give honor to those who served and returned to safety. The Naval Sea Cadets, a group of young boys and girls, posted the colors.

The Velvetones entertained the audience with patriotic music. Guest speaker Marty Goldwin, chief warrant officer 4, gave a presentation on the Navy Battleship U.S.S. Iowa and invited the community to come to tour the ship.

Post Cmdr. Rich Carson explained the POW/MIA table. This event has been offered to the community every Veterans Day for many years and the American Legion Post and the American Legion Auxiliary are very appreciative of the community’s participation.

The Auxiliary and Post are now preparing to assist veterans and their families who need help purchasing food for the holiday season as well as provide gifts for the children. Donations are welcome. Those who want to donate can call Denese Anderson at 951-640-9340.

For Auxiliary membership information, call Diane Hart at 714-955-2885 or Lee Esslinger for the Post at 310-491-8989.
