LW Cares Fund

Marcy Sheinwold, president of the Foundation of Laguna Woods Village, spoke at the Leisure World Cares Fund’s meeting on Nov. 10. The Foundation of Laguna Woods Village has been the Village’s very own charity for the past 27 years. It acts as a safety net to help residents who are experiencing financial issues such as a high electrical bill, a caregiver bill, or hearing aid repair. They partner with a nearby hospital to focus on fall prevention classes and providing hearing aids, both of which are top priorities. Like the Leisure World Cares Fund, the Foundation of Laguna Woods Village offered to help offset the loss of SNAP benefits last week. The foundation also support Meals on Wheels and gives grocery cards to residents.

The financially vulnerable population being served in Laguna Woods Village by the foundation is similar to the one in Leisure World. In Leisure World, the fund aims to provide an HOA fee subsidy to those residents in need. All information is kept strictly confidential.
