First Christian Church
First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the Holy Bible, most often verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.
Pastor’s Message
In the first five verses of Romans 9, it’s understood that Israel was chosen, elected by a sovereign God, a treasure called for his purpose, and from whom the patriarchs and the messiah would come.
The apostle Paul continues the chapter explaining why Israel in its present condition, per God’s perspective, missed the messiah. It was according to his plan and for his purpose. Paul answers a very pertinent question: “Has God failed in his plans concerning Israel?” The answer would be a resounding no. God in his sovereignty and righteousness has not set the Israelites aside, nor failed His chosen people.
In Romans 9:6, Paul explains what God is doing with those he chose, and it is not because God’s word has taken no effect. Again, in verse 14 a question proposed is,“There is no injustice with God, is there? May it never be!” For remainder of the chapter, Paul quotes several Old Testament scriptures to enlighten readers of a sovereign God that works all things for his glory and that he has a plan for the nation of Israel and its people.
