“Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the Lord and spread it out before the Lord. And Hezekiah prayed to the Lord,” 2 Kings 19:14-15a.
The full context of this scripture includes an unsettling report that Hezekiah receives from the king. In a time when unsettling reports seem to come often, the lesson in this scripture is still as current today as it was then.
Just as Hezekiah spread the concerning letter before the Lord, believers can also spread out their concerns before God, whether it’s on paper such as a doctor’s report, a financial concern, or something troubling in the heart or on the mind. Believers should bring all their worries and needs to the altar of God. Just as Philippians 4:6-7 instructs:“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Join Faith Christian Assembly for service at 10:30 a.m. Those who are in need of prayer can stay after service to connect with one of the church’s prayer partners who love to pray for people. The Bible Study is on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. A men’s and women’s group meets once a month.
