America First Republican Club

Now that the Prop. 50 special election is over, the America First Republican Club’s members will begin concentrating on collecting signatures to get the Voter ID Proposition on the 2026 election ballot.
About a month ago, many members received an envelope that contained a voter ID proposition petition. That petition was sent to encourage members to not just sign the petition, but to collect signatures from family, friends and neighbors. Members now have only 115 days to collect signatures and return those petitions. If additional help or instruction on how to collect the signatures is needed, call Hope Horning at 714-8331654. Once members have collected signatures, Horning will hand carry the completed petitions to an Orange County collection site.
Why is a voter ID proposition needed in California?
Many people have doubts about the fairness and integrity of California elections. Polling shows that voter ID will increase confidence in elections and improve the sense of fairness.
Many voters sign their name differently than when they initially registered to vote. Using the last four digits of a government-issued ID for verification provides everyone with an easy pin number.
While opponents say voter ID makes it hard to vote if you’re economically disadvantaged, this proposal requires that a free ID be provided for voting, upon request.
U.S. courts have routinely ruled that voter ID is not racist. There are laws in 36 states that require voter ID.
By signing this petition, voters are merely indicating that the people of California should have the opportunity to vote on this proposal in the 2026 election.
The America First Republican Club’s next meeting is Wednesday, Nov. 19, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, with social time starting at 4:30 p.m. and the business meeting at 5. This month is a potluck dinner with members bringing their favorite entrée, vegetable, salad, or desert to share during the social time. Visitors or prospective members are always welcome. The club’s mission is to educate, engage, and activate members in their duty as citizens, including working to elect like-minded candidates to local, state, and federal offices.
The club’s information booth will be set up on Monday, Nov. 17, outside Clubhouse 6 from 9-11 a.m. Members host the booth and will be collecting signatures on the voter ID proposition petition and informally chat about current events and issues of concern with people who stop by.
