How the Golden Age Foundation helps the LW community
The Golden Age Foundation (GAF) is funded by donations which are used to support safe, active, independent living for residents in Leisure World. Through the generous support of residents, clubs, organizations and businesses, the GAF has organized and implemented many programs that benefit the community. The GAF’s mission is to empower residents to live purposeful, healthy, quality lives in the community as they age.
There are many ways to help the GAF, including becoming a member, making yearly contributions or a one‐time donation, naming the GAF as a beneficiary designation via will or trust, or donating stocks, real estate or life insurance. Donations can be made directly to the GAF via P.O. Box 2369, Seal Beach, CA 90740. The GAF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization, tax ID number 23‐7273105.
GAF programs include the Hospitality Center, Mobility Aids Program, Income Tax Program, document shredding, battery recycling and the Salvation Army donation program.
Some of the community needs that GAF has met include:
•Purchasing handicap accessible buses.
•Donating audio interface for the sound system in Clubhouse 4 and a sound system upgrade for Clubhouses 1 and 2.
•Serenity Park Installation
•Donating new gym equipment in Clubhouse 6.
•Funding bus benches and shelters in the community.
•Audio equipment for the hearing impaired in the Learning Center.
•Funding for Meals On Wheels LB and OC.
•A pedestrian safety system including audio alerts and visibility flags.
•A proactive COVID‐19 response, including volunteers working at vaccination clinics, distributing 5,500 cloth and 45,000 disposable face masks to residents and employees.
•The formation of a collaboration team of Orange County Service Agencies that focus on aging including the Council on Aging, Alzheimer’s Orange County and Adult Protective Services, which have an office in Leisure World to serve the community.
