LW Gong Club
Autumn folk-style music rang out from Clubhouse 2 at the LW Gong Club’s Sept. 26 month-end party.
The club featured entertainment from LW’s songbird Nina DeRosa and her nephew Logan Mark, both on guitar. Doors opened at 6 p.m. and volunteers helped decorate tables with fall decorations. Some families brought homemade dinner and then picked dessert from the free snack table during the pre-show be-happy hour. Snacks like chocolate marshmallow Moon Pies, Jell-O shots, Oreo cookies, cinnamon graham cookies, gummy fruit snacks, peanut butter/cheese crackers and chocolate/vanilla wafers have all become fan favorites. Guests who didn’t bring a spirited drink of their own chose from coffee, flavored teas, chocolate milk or hot apple cider. It was yet another fun evening brought to the greater Leisure World community from the Gong Club.
The main event started at 7 p.m. with a recurring club feature called the “Commercial Break.” Longtime resident and LW candle queen Val Shope-Verbree gave a program on safety tips for festive holiday decorating with candles. After the folk music segment concluded, residents participated in the fashion parade at the end of the evening, and Nina Todorov and Erick Weiss were announced as the best dressed male and female.
