Japanese American Club
The Japanese American Club of Leisure World is having a bento meeting with a speaker, Heather Harada of Keiro Iyashi Care on Oct. 18, in Clubhouse 4 at 11:30 a.m. A bento box will be available for $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers. People are welcome to bring a dessert to share.
This month’s presentation will be about Iyashi Care, Keiro and Providence’s community-based pallative care program for Japanese seniors with serious and/or chronic illnesses. The bilingual team of health care professionals provides guidance and support for both patients and their loved ones. People will learn how Iyashi Care works and can help, what palliative care is and how it differs from hospice, and when palliative care may be beneficial. For more information, call Sue Yokomi at 562-799-9142.
