Community Church

Is there a church for people who don’t like church? Over the decades, Pastor Johan Dodge has worked with countless groups who left church because they believed it was filled with closed-minded judgmental people. But the church is evolving. The understanding of God is evolving, but what is staying constant is the benefit of being in community. People are healthier and more joyful when they share life with those around them.

This Sunday, Oct. 12, Community Church will hear a message titled “We before Me.” There is an emptiness to life that comes from a consumerist culture and that emptiness cannot be filled with more stuff —it actually comes from giving stuff away. The way of Jesus is counterintuitive to the way of the world, especially a world filled with hate, bigotry, sexism or homophobia.

People are welcome to join Community Church’s “Coffee with the Pastor” on Thursdays. The next Coffee with the Pastor will be held today, Oct. 9, at 10 a.m. This is a great low-key opportunity to meet Pastor Dodge and some of the members of the church before attending a service. No previous church experience required.

Those looking for a place to belong and feel less lonely, are welcome at Community Church. All are welcome who are welcoming to all.

Community Church meets for worship every Sunday at 9:50 a.m. at 14000 Church Place near the St. Andrews Gate.
