There are people who seem ….
There are people who seem to only be interested in reading the New Testament and never turning to the Old Testament. Unfortunately, they are missing out on so much.
When the Apostle Paul wrote Romans 15:4, to the church in Rome, he had just quoted in a previous verse a passage from Psalm 69.
It would seem, as he pondered this Scripture, it struck him that in fact the Old Testament was important to learning and all that it brings to people’s lives.
By skipping over the Old Testament, people do so to their own spiritual peril.
Matthew Henry wrote: “The Scriptures are written for our use and benefit, as much as for those to whom they were first given.
“Those are most learned who are most mighty in the Scriptures. That comfort which springs from the word of God, is the surest and sweetest, and the greatest stay to hope.”
And from Job, “I have not departed from the commandment of His lips.
I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.”
