Club to meet Oct. 9 at 11:30

AMERICAN LATINO

Join the American Latino Club on Thursday, Oct. 9, from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, for its monthly meeting. The club will continue to honor a different Spanish speaking country each month to learn its history and customs. For the month of October, the American Latino Club will celebrate Ecuador.

The club will order food from Senor Big Ed’s Restaurant. Lunch meal choices are as follows: pernil de cerdo (roasted pork), mofongo relleno (mashed green plantain topped with chicken) and canoa de platano (plantain filled with ground beef and cheese). All plates come with rice and stewed pink beans. Dessert will be arroz con leche (rice pudding) and beverage choices are water, coffee, tea, and lemonade.

The cost for lunch is $17 for members and $19 for guests. People should submit their payments and meal choices to club Treasurer Rachel Fullum by dropping them off in her mailbox at 1371 Oakmont de platano (plantain filled with ground beef and cheese). All plates come with rice and stewed pink beans. Dessert will be arroz con leche (rice pudding), and beverage choices are water, coffee, tea and lemonade.

Payment can also be made by check payable to the American Latino Club no later than 3 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 6. Call Fullum for more information at 310-869-7730. Members and guests who bring their own lunch can pay $5 for a beverage. People should notify Fullum if they decide to bring their own lunch.

People are encouraged to join the fun and dress up for Halloween for a chance to win a prize at the meeting.
