Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore
The congregations of Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore of Canterbury Episcopal Church had a special dedication of memorial crosses at the outdoor chapel memorial cross wall on Holy Cross Sunday, Sept. 14. Congregant Bruce Young dedicated a cross in memory of his son with the help of Rev. Murray D. Finck.
On Sunday, Sept. 28, the congregations will be observe the 16th Sunday after Pentecost. After the service, the congregation will celebrate members with September birthdays in the Fellowship Hall with coffee, tea, cookies and snacks.
Rev. Finck will preside over the holy Communion service at 13564 St. Andrews Drive 10:30 a.m. All are welcome to join.
All singers are welcome to join the choir each Sunday for choir practice at 9:15 a.m.
The midweek Bible study on the women of the Bible will not meet on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
The Gospel lesson for this week is from Luke 16:19-31.
This part of the scriptures is the telling of the parable of Lazarus and the rich man. Jesus is once again challenging his followers to be countercultural— to be different—and go beyond.
Like the people in the story, believers today have Moses and the prophets and the risen savior, Jesus’ example to follow. Modern Christians have less of an excuse for not fulfilling the call for stewardship and caring for others. The knowledge and awareness need to be greater because believers have even more examples and guides for living their lives than the believers before them.
