Community Church
On Sunday, Oct. 5, at 3:30 p.m., LW Community Church will present Broadway’s Lerner & Loewe, featuring the music and history of Broadway lyricist Alan Jay Lerner and composer Frederick Loewe, including songs from “My Fair Lady,” “Brigadoon,” “Camelot,” “Paint Your Wagon,” “Gigi,” and more.
LW Community Church offers a study of the book “A Course in Miracles,” facilitated by Abby Stevens, every Tuesday at 1 p.m. This is a free discussion focused on the teachings of Dr. Kenneth Wapnick. The theme of the course and the book can be summed up as “nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God.” For more information about “A Course in Miracles,” visit www.acim.org.
This Sunday, Sept. 28, Pastor Johan Dodge will continue his series about community with a message titled “Covenant, Kindom, and Commonwealth.” The teachings of Jesus confronts believers and the world. In Luke 16:19-31, Lazarus is seemingly unhoused and laying at the gate of the rich man. When both die, Lazarus goes to be with Abraham in heaven while the rich man ends up in the flaming torment of Hades. Community Church will look at this challenging passage and their place in the world as followers of the way of Love.
People are welcome to join Community Church’s “Coffee with the Pastor” on Thursdays at 10 a.m. on Sept. 25. This is a great low-key opportunity to meet Pastor Dodge and some of the members of the church before attending a service.
The people at Community Church are focused on the “kindom” building community, and living God’s love. Those who are experiencing hate or bitterness either toward themselves or others could benefit from this community. This is a place where everyone is welcome, provided they are willing to be part of the community. The church does not welcome hate, bigotry, sexism, or homophobia. All are welcome who are welcoming to all. Community Church meets for worship service every Sunday at 9:50 a.m. at 14000 Church Place near the St. Andrews Gate.
The cast of "Broadway's Lerner & Loewe" John Fluker (l- r), Lisa Margaroli, Jennifer Rudy, Sean Gabel, and Dave Albulario.
