Leisure World Cares Fund is now accepting applications
The Leisure World Cares Fund spoke at the Sept. 3 Leisure World Presidents Council meeting. The fund aims to provide a small but sustained and significant subsidy to residents who are on low fixed incomes to be put toward their Mutual homeowner’s fees. Increases in those fees have severely stressed this category of resident and the fund looks to those who are not as impacted by the increases to help those who are.
The presidents were encouraged to advise any of their residents who are potential candidates to contact the fund and apply. In the end, the concept was largely well-received by the audience.
The Leisure World Cares fund began accepting applications Sept. 1. By week’s end, four applications were in the works. The application process was improved with each application as the fund’s Client Services Committee began to interface with live applicants and hear their individual stories. The fund aims to respond to applications within two weeks and arrive at a monetary award decision shortly thereafter. In order to maintain and expand the number of clients that can be helped, more donors are needed. Donations of any amount will be acknowledged on the fund’s website. The fund can accept designated sustaining donations, where the donor specifies that their donation be provided to a particular resident who qualifies. Donations are tax deductible. Both donors and applicants are encouraged to contact the fund through its website at www.lwcaresfund.org, by email at lwcares@lwcaresdfund.org or by phone at 562-262-8200. —Nick Massetti The Leisure World Cares Fund is not affiliated with the Golden Rain Foundation or LWSB in any way.
