Club receives GAF grant for new computers

GENEALOGY CLLUB

All Leisure World residents are welcome to the Genealogy Club general membership meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m., in Clubhouse 3, Room 9. Coffee hour starts at 9:30. The sign-up sheet for refreshments is in the Genealogy Library.

The club was recently awarded a grant by the Golden Age Foundation that will be used to purchase 10 new, much-needed computers for the Genealogy Library. The club thanks its co-president Linda Bewley, who invested much time and effort in writing up the proposal.

The club is in the process of deleting information from old computers and getting ready to set up the new machines. All stations should soon be running.

The next Theme Thursday learning session will be Sept. 18 at 1:30 p.m. in the Genealogy Library. People are invited to share who their first immigrant ancestor was, when they came and from where, where they settled and any interesting stories about them.

The Genealogy Library is open weekdays from 1-4 p.m.; Saturday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m; closed Sunday. To volunteer, call 714-390-4213 or email lisnhow@gmail.com. Substitute and backup volunteers are always needed. Volunteering is a great way to work on one’s genealogy and take advantage of the new computer lab.
