The Golden Age Foundation (GAF) has served the Leisure World community for 52 years. It is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization (taxIDis 23-7273105) established in 1973 to help residents. Over the years, through the support of the community, the GAF has organized and implemented many programs for free.

The GAF’s core programs include the Hospitality Center, AARP income tax preparation program, mobility aids program, document shredding, battery recycling and the Salvation Army donation drive.

The GAF has also made multiple donations to the community including equipment for hearing impaired at the Learning Center, upgrading ice machines in clubhouses to be automated and a $75,000 donation to renovate the gym at Clubhouse 6. The GAF has also funded the purchase of bus benches, overhead shelters and accessibility equipment in LW buses, and orange safety flags for bikes, scooters and wheelchairs. The GAF has also donated to Meals on Wheels on Long Beach and Orange County.

GAF volunteers help facilitate and run events around the community including the COVID- 19 and flu vaccine drives with the Health Care Center, and centenarian celebrations.

The GAF has thrown its own celebrations including its 50th anniversary on April 22, 2023 and the Walk-A-Thon event on Oct. 19, 2024.
