LW Baptist Church
The Bible calls Christian believers the “temple of the living God,” both individually and corporately in the church body. Jesus shined the light on this truth. The woman at the well asked where to worship, and Jesus answered, “True worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”
God is holy and set apart. There is no one else just like him. He is set apart in that he is, distinct from his creation, from his creatures, and he is set apart from all sin, all evil. He calls all believers to be set apart from sin, from evil, saying, “You shall be holy for I am holy.” “What harmony is there”, the Bible asks, “between Christ and Belial (Satan)?” And so it is with the believer and the unbeliever, they stand quite apart, with different interests and values. That which is most important to the believer, the unbeliever denies. There is a fundamental, undeniable separation.
This truth is shocking, though quite obvious. It would be distressing, were it not for the hope the Bible gives. To those who turn from the world to put their faith in Jesus Christ the Bible promises the welcome of God. They become part of his house, his temple, the people of God, and will dwell with him for all eternity.
LW Baptist will meet for corporate worship on Sunday, Sept. 14, to discuss the ways believers are called to worship at 10 a.m. in Clubhouse 4.
