Bringing life into LWers’ closets
RELATIVELY SPEAKING

Fun and laughter filled the room at the “Fashion and Prosecco” evening presented by Theresa Camille Metzler, founder and CEO of Trend Terrace LA and daughter of Mutual 15 resident Camille Dull. Metzler drew on her wealth of experience in the fashion industry to discuss what she calls “Closet Resurrection.” She works with clients on breathing new life into existing wardrobes. Her company specializes in custom clothing, but her favorite work is enhancing people’s unique style through resurrecting their closets and personal styling.
LWers Brenda Thomason, Alice Labranche and Barb Woodward were Metzler’s supermodels wearing clothing combinations she helped them put together using only clothing from each of their closets. Applause greeted her style tips and tweaks as participants watched Metzler add her touches to outfits.
Everyone was invited to walk the catwalk wearing items selected from racks of clothing brought to the event by Ida Bruce. Bruce’s clothing was also available for purchase during the event.
More events are already in the planning stages focused on travel-wardrobe tips and tricks, clothing exchange, and today’s styling for men.
At the event, Camillie Dull told a story about her daughter when she was still in high school. Money was tight and Metzler wanted a new summer wardrobe, but Dull wouldn’t agree to the cost no matter how dire it seemed to Metzler.
Since she couldn’t buy it, Metzler began making a summer wardrobe. The fabric she was using seemed vaguely familiar to her mother, but her mom assumed it was fabric found in the stash. Later, when Dull opened the linen closet to change the bed linens, she understood why the fabric seemed so familiar: all the extra bed linens were gone. Metzler had transformed them into her summer wardrobe. Dull had to admit she had a very resourceful and creative daughter, and was swayed by the wide-leg shorts which looked good on mom.
Metzler has been in fashion all her life. She founded her company Trend Terrace LA over two decades ago. It is a full-service manufacturing house that specializes in custom suiting, gowns, and branded merchandise, serving clients from everyday people to global icons.
