LW Men’s Golf League

Ten golfers of the Leisure World Men’s Golf League competed at the 5,600-yard par 71 Meadowlark Golf Course in Huntington Beach on Aug. 22.

Six of the 10 players shot at or below net par. There were seven birdies—four by Jim Goltra, two by Clay Fischer, and one by Gene Vesely. Sam Choi was closest to the pin on the 140-yard par 3 seventh hole, and Goltra was closest to the pin on the 150-yard par 3 16th hole. Goltra and Randy Massaro had fewest putts.

A flight winners (net score: gross minus handicap): Fischer, 9 under 62, first place; Goltra, 4 under 67, second; Dave LaCascia and Fujio Norihiro, even par 71, third; Choi and Gary Stivers, fourth.

B flight winners: Massaro, 3 under 68, first place; Steve Miller, 1 under 70, second; Bob Munn and Vesely, third.

Fourteen golfers played at the 4,000-yard par 62 David L. Baker Executive Golf Course in Fountain Valley on Aug. 25. Twelve of the players shot net at or below par. There were five birdies—two by Jim Goltra, and one each by Chris Lankford, Jae Choi and Tom Ross. Lankford was closest to the pin on the 100yard par 3 third hole and Choi was closest on the 110-yard par 3 15th hole. Goltra had fewest putts in the A flight, and Ron Jackson had the fewest for the B.

A flight winners: Gary Stivers, 10 under 52, first place; Larry Hillhouse, 9 under 53, second; Fujio Norihiro and Choi, 6 under 56, third; Goltra, 4 under 58, fourth; Sam Choi and Seon Kim, 3 under 59, fifth; Lankford, 1 under, sixth; Dave LaCascia and Clay Fischer, seventh.

B flight winners: Bruno Santillo, 11 under 51, first place; Tom Ross, 6 under 56, second; Jackson, 4 under 58, third; Bob Munn, 1 under 61, fourth.

The Monday and Friday golf leagues require advance reservations, with a sign-up sheet available at each round.

There is a prize pool for each round that players are not obligated to enter.
