First Christian Church

First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word the Holy Bible, verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.

Pastor’s Message

Pastor Chris Cherryholmes will be the guest speaker for the Saturday, Sept. 6 and Sunday, Sept. 7, worship services. He will bring a message from 1 Samuel 17 titled “Facing your Giants.” All people have at some time or another, had those large obstacles in their lives that seemed to be overwhelming, but God is there.

Pastor Cherryholmes and his wife, Olga, are from Bakersfield, California, where they fellowship at a Calvary Chapel. He is the son of Pastor Gene Cherryholmes who along with his wife, Gypsy, pastored at LW First Christian Church for over 17 years before stepping away from the pulpit in December 2019. Both Pastor Gene and his wife, Gypsy, are with the Lord now, having passed into his presence after having served him for many years.

Weekly Services

Sunday services are from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and feature traditional hymnal music led by Janet Ray with Ruth Bonnema at the piano. This week Pat Kogak will bring the special music.

Saturday services include contemporary songs, led by Gregory Black with guitar and vocal accompaniment. Saturday service time is 9:30-10:45 a.m.

Midweek Studies

Melli Herrera leads the Monday Bible study from 10:3011:30 a.m.

Pastor Bruce Humes leads the Thursday Bible study from 10:3011:30 a.m. and the Friday prayer and Bible study from 4-5 p.m.

Scripture of the Week

“Make me know Your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; for You I wait all the day,” Psalm 25:4-5.
