Board approves design plans for additional speed cushions
GRF BOARD RECAP

At its Aug. 26 meeting, the GRF Board of Directors, upon the recommendation of the Facilities Committee, narrowly approved $8,900 for a study to design speed humps at St. Andrews south and Northwood Road between Del Monte and Clubhouse 3.
The board voted 8-7 to authorize the design and permits to install two sets of speed cushions at each site and added an amendment to the motion to develop a master speed bump plan for Leisure World.
The scope of this work includes a review by the Orange County Fire Authority to ensure compliance with its design standards and required signage and striping improvements.
Opponents of the project cited the need for more community input, whether this piecemeal plan should be delayed pending the development of a comprehensive strategy, the expense of the design plan and whether the project should be open to other vendors.
Urban Crossroads was the only company that bid for the project, largely because it has handled past speed bump installations.
