Metalsmithing class begins Sept. 3

LAPIDARY & JEWELRY CLUB

The Lapidary & Jewelry Club is offering a metalsmithing basics class that will start Sept. 3 and run until just before Christmas.

The ongoing class will be held from 9 a.m.-noon on Wednesdays. Students will start with copper and transition to silver. People will learn techniques for cutting, shaping, filing and soldering different metals to make jewelry.

The instructor is LaVerne Christenson, who has many years of experience working with metals and has taught many times before at the club.

Christenson is a valuable asset to the club and wonderful instructor. The one-time cost for the class is $35 which includes the use of tools and the needed materials, except for silver. Sign-up sheets are available in Lapidary & Jewelry Studio in Clubhouse 4.
