First Christian Church
First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word the Holy Bible, verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “That we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.
Pastor’s Message
One the many beautiful things that happen when someone is born again is deliverance from being bound by the law for a sinful world. Being a bornagain believer means the death of the old man with Christ. Christ was the representative who took the world’s place and when he died, the old self died with him.
In Romans 7:5-6 the apostle Paul wrote; “For when we were in the flesh, the sin passions, which were aroused by the law were at work in the members of our body to bear fruit to death. But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.”
The child of God is freed from the law and death and set free to serve in the “newness of the Spirit.” This service is driven by love, not fear, as it’s a service of freedom.
Weekly Services
Sunday services are from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and feature traditional hymnal music led by Janet Ray with Ruth Bonnema at the piano. This week Gregory Black will bring the special music.
Saturday services include contemporary songs, led by Black with guitar and vocal accompaniment. Saturday service time is 9:30-10:45 a.m.
Midweek Studies
Melli Herrera leads the Monday Bible study from 10:3011:30 a.m.
Pastor Bruce Humes leads the Thursday Bible study from 10:3011:30 a.m. and the Friday prayer and Bible study from 4-5 p.m.
Scripture of the Week
“For God has not destined us or wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with him,” 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10.
