First Christian Church
First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word the Holy Bible, verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “That we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.
Pastor’s Message
In Romans 6:14, the apostle Paul had informed the Roman church that as believers in Jesus Christ, sin no longer has dominion over them, for they as believers are not under law but under grace. They are no longer held in bondage of sin but have been freed by coming to faith in Jesus Christ.
Paul, anticipating what his objectors may ask concerning this doctrine of grace poses to himself a question in Romans 6:15 he writes, “What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace?” The apostle Paul answers that with a very emphatic “certainly not!”
In Romans 6:21, Paul poses another question in regards to why anyone would dispute Paul’s teaching of being dead to sin because of the grace of God, “What benefit were you then deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed?”
In verses 16-22, Paul will explain why one must step away from his life of sin and pursue holiness, which culminates in verse 23 where the apostle proclaims that “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
People have two options: remain in the bondage of sin and suffer a death that separates from any fellowship with God for eternity in the “lake of fire,” or receive the gift of eternal life by putting faith in Jesus Christ to eternity in the presence of the Lord. Eternity begins when a believer puts his faith in the savior, Jesus Christ.
